We've been ensconced on Hilton Head Island, SC for a couple of days, but I haven't managed to update this much. We finally got out of Texas and to New Orleans, where we had a hotel right on Bourbon Street. Good French food and a lively jazz trio at Arnaud's, shopping at many different shops, and of course music and crowds that went on long into the night. In the morning it was cafe-au-lait and beignets at Cafe Du Monde, one of life's greatest pleasures. Then off the the Faulkner House bookstore where I picked up one of the few Wallace Stegner books I don't already own.
The next night was Tallahassee, FL, after rushing through Mississippi and Alabama. Tallahassee wasn't much to be excited about, but it was a place to sleep. By the next night we were here in Hilton Head.
Tomorrow we hit the road again. First stop: South of the Border, SC!
