Bookmans.com, the website of Arizona's great independent used book/record/movie/game/etc. chain, has launched a new feature called "Handpicked." And they asked me to launch it.
Here are the criteria they've posted:
"Everyone likes a good list and that's the idea behind HANDPICKED: pick a theme, make a list, and share it with us.
Sure, we want to know what you like, what's
influenced you, those items you consider essential to humanity's
continued existence. But we're interested in your creative side, too -
perhaps you'd like to share a list of your favorite children's book
characters, your top five zombie-fighting songs, the most
under-appreciated Renaissance artists, or the authors and musicians who
got you through high school. Or maybe you've been dying to detail the
weirdest impulse buys you've ever made in one of our stores, or the
best albums you've pulled from our bargain bins. The theme is yours to
I chose Western novels. Not necessarily the all-time best Western novels--just some that had special significance to me personally.
