Ever since I was a kid, I've loved the Ghost Who Walks--the Phantom. I used to cut out Phantom strips from the Sunday paper and glue them into a book to create my own comic books. I read Lee Falk's novel about the masked avenger who hung out in a skull cave in darkest Africa. I even sat through the terrible Phantom movie, and will probably sit through the one coming up on the Sci-fi (sorry, Syfy) Channel this winter.
So when I was asked to contribute a short story to Moonstone's upcoming anthology of Phantom stories, I could hardly refuse. At the time, I didn't even know I'd be in a collection with Harlan Ellison and Ed Gorman, but that's a definite bonus. My story is kind of a traditional 1940s hard-boiled PI tale, which was a lot of fun to write.
Apparently the book, Phantom Chronicles 2, will be released in December. And apparently with various cover treatments--here are some I've seen so far.
