It's a good thing none of the Republicans gathering in Tampa this week used the National Highway System or federally funded airports where flights watched over by air traffic controllers regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration on aircraft safety-checked by the Natiopnal Transportation Safety Board to get there. And a good thing they didn't bother paying attention to the National Weather Service updates on the tropical storm that just hit Louisiana with hurricane force (or, for that matter, rely on National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration science to speculate about what might happen), or count on the Federal Emergency Management Agency to provide assistance should the worst happen.
Because it's vitally important that they gather in a largely taxpayer-funded arena to tell us that Americans can't do anything together, that the amazing social construct that is the United States of America is essentially worthless, that nothing beyond the reach of our own hands is to be counted on--and to do it on their self-declared "We Built It" day.
So here's the question: Are they really so stupid that they can't understand simple sentences in basic American English when they're delivered by the president of the United States? Or do they just think you're that stupid?
