It’s been a long while since I’ve posted here--the longest stretch, I think, since I started this blog. One of the reasons was a somewhat delayed trip to the wilds of northern New Mexico, about which I have nothing but good to say—it’s an incredibly beautiful part of the country, the people are nice, the altitude gives it a wonderful climate and a clarity of light that has inspired artists and photographers (who are, in fact, also artists) for generations. If you’re able to go there, do.
The other reason is work. On Sept. 3, I turned in the novel Star Trek: The Folded World—an original series novel, focusing on Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty, and other folks, most of whom I made up. Then I got notes from my editor and I’ve been working on a revision. That book will go on sale in late April, 2013.
While turning in that book means I don’t have any other pressing novel deadlines, it doesn’t mean I don’t have much to do. Here’s what else I’ve been working on, or trying to find time to work on: Revising a different novel. Checking copyedits on yet a different novel. Writing a short story. Writing a longer short story. Writing a collaborative short story. Working on a collaborative novel pitch. Working on a collaborative comic book pitch. Editing three comic book series for other creators. Thinking about what the next novel will be, and getting started on plotting it. Writing a different novel pitch.
There are probably other things I’m just not thinking about at the moment. And, oh, yeah, did I mention the full-time job?
So, sorry I haven’t posted lately, and I do, really, appreciate those of you who come around here to check. I’ll try to be better.
