A quickie post: a wolf known as 832F, Alpha female of Yellowstone's Lamar Valley pack, was shot to death last week when she ventured outside the park's boundary. Remember, there's no fence around national parks, and the wolf can't tell when she crosses the line. Nonetheless, she was radio-collared, so researchers know that she spent 95% of her time inside the park.
But Wyoming allows hunters to shoot wolves outside the park, and apparently being a well known, much loved creature wearing a radio collar wasn't enough to save this one. If you'd like to see what Defenders of Wildlife does to protect these beautiful animals, you can check out their wolf page here.
