I'm an author guest this year. Here's my schedule:
EVERYBODY KILLS SOMEBODY SOMETIME –- It might be hard to kill off a beloved character in your story, and it’s probably even harder to throw out the whole story; but if it ain’t working, what alternative do you have?
Friday 5-6 PM, Avondale 4. Gini Koch (moderator), Jeff Mariotte
MEET THE PROS –- All our Pros will be on hand to introduce themselves and give you the chance to meet them personally.
Friday 730-9 PM, Avondale 3 & 4.
with my writing partner, Marsheila (Marcy) Rockwell
Saturday, Aug 23rd, Noon-1 PM, Merchants' Room
SHARED UNIVERSES AND FAN FIC -- Many respected authors do well in someone else’s playground: Michael Stackpole, Alan Dean Foster, Peter David – is there a secret to do it well? And does Fanfic respect the author’s property or is it an illegal parody?
Saturday 2-3 PM, Boardroom. Jeff Mariotte, Marsheila Rockwell, Michael Stackpole. Edward Pulley (moderator)
There will be an assortment of my books for sale in the dealer's room (and if you're coming and want something in particular, send me an email or leave a comment here before Friday morning!). One of those books will be--for the first time anywhere, making its global debut--the print version of Neverland's Library, featuring my first published collaboration with the aforementioned Marsheila Rockwell. Since we'll both be there to sign it, you'll want multiple copies--the holidays aren't far off!
And speaking of Marsheila Rockwell, a couple of weeks ago I posted about being a mentor for Arizona State University's Your Novel Year program for 2015. I'm pleased to announce that in addition to me, Kevin J. Anderson, Alan Dean Foster, and Joe Nassise, Marcy has joined the program as a mentor. Having seen her critique the work of other writers, I know how lucky anyone would be to be mentored by her.
